Welcome to Llandegfedd Sailing Club
Welcome 2012
2012, Golden Jubilee & London Olympics. A big year! But ossibly an even bigger year for Llandegfedd Sailing Club. This is going to be the year when we will have the commitment to a new sailing centre. With a little good fortune we could see full facilities available by early 2013. I am anticipating making an exciting announcement in the next couple of months ………… watch this space.
More developments over the closed season, we expect to have our new 4.9m rescue RIB on the water by 1st March. The complete race scene is ready to go, with more prestige events of Regional and National importance to dinghy racing.
This year we intend to push forward with encouraging youth sailing with a warm and friendly welcome to any new members. The club provides some of the safest sailing in the area, with fresh water and safety cover 7 days a week during the sailing season.
Club membership prices remain at last years level, £80 for a single member & £95 for families. Membership provides free useage of the club boats including Optimists, Toppers, Lasers & a Laser 2000, subject to experience & assessment.
Members can also participate in the racing scene, with races held from March to November on a Sunday, usually 3 races back to back of approx 45 minutes duration. There is one race on a Wednesday evening from April to September. Special events are held regularly throughout the season, with Open Meetings, Regattas, & Youth Events. With social events such as BBQ's, fun sailing etc.
Any local dinghy sailors are welcome to visit and take part in racing on a trial basis.
General fun sailing is always encouraged with members on hand to assist with rigging, tips and support.
Llandegfedd Sailing Club, the best kept secret in South Wales, 20 minutes form Cardiff, 10 minutes from Newport. Llandegfedd Reservoir is arguably the most attractive and safest sailing area in South Wales. Feel free to contact me or any other members for a chat about sailing at Llandegfedd. Looking froward to seeing you on the water in 2012.
Jeremy Symons
