Welcome to Llandegfedd Sailing Club
Whatever standard of sailor you are, Novice, Junior, Intermediate or National Champion, why not come and visit us? We have been told that we are...
"...one of the best kept secrets in Wales!"
2018 saw an exciting year for Llandegfedd Sailing Club. It was our 50th anniversary! A dinner was held in the Visitor Centre, in the middle of summer, and lots of old stories were retold. The regatta, sponsored by Kingstone Brewery, suffered from a severe lack of wind, but there was more time for discussion and reminiscences. Now that we have splendid facilities, in the Watersports Centre, and the Visitors Centre for those not sailing, the days of wooden huts and changing in Portacabins are well and truly over.
We started a re-invigoration of the club, setting us up for the next 50 years. We continued our well managed and competitive dinghy racing, improve our training and social sailing. To make things easier, we bought the aquadocks to store the RIBS and reduce risk of handling injuries, and reduce overall work for the Instructors or race management teams. The OD hut has been refurbished, there is some limited Winter Sailng scheduled for Jan and Feb 2019. We hope to continue and become "more social", and grow the club. This will take time, but the journey has started.
Llandegfedd Reservoir is conveniently located between Usk and Pontypool and is around 8 miles north of Newport. It has deep fresh water. It is less than half an hour's drive from Cardiff or the Severn Bridge, yet it is in an idyllic country setting which makes it one of the most beautiful inland sailing locations in the UK.
For those who don't own their own boat, but can sail, there is a fleet of adult and junior club boats available for use when they are not required for coaching and training. We have Laser 2000s, Lasers with a choice of rigs, Fevas and a dozen Toppers
Please use the buttons above to find where we are, what we do and come and join us.
