BCR's 2009 Season

Just to remind you, if you win a race, you get a BCR equal to the PY of your boat, in any other position the BCR is the PY Rating you would have required to tie with the winner. There are two tables on this page, both containing the same data, the first sorted by BCR against PY, the second by 2009 BCR against 2008. That table can be found here.

Obviously if you compete in only one race and win it, then your BCR is the same as your PY and you head the table. So the real stars here, are Charlie with a BCR/PY of 1.005 over 13 races, Elfyn with 1.031 over 29, and Mark, Nigel & Jeremy with 1.036, 1.046 & 1.049 over 61, 53 & 62 races. Those last 3 showing serious consistency over the season.

Here the table is sorted by 2009 BCR divided by 2008 BCR, and is a measure of how much each sailor has improved against last season. Again very much easier to hit a big improvement with a small number of races, so the real stars here are Chris Smith and Neil Sharratt, (as witnessed by them winning the Improvers Championships). Interesting to see that 40 sailors improved over 2008, while only 13 delivered a worse performance.
