Racing at Llandegfedd Sailing Club
Racing is at the heart of our club.
Llandegfedd is one of the largest inland waters in the UK: its size and depth allows us to set great courses to suit all conditions. It is an ideal venue for club and Championship racing and the club has a reputation for producing very talented sailors.
Racing against other club members encourages the development of both sailing and tactical skills, and is a great way to measure personal improvement. As your sailing skills develop, our members and the race organisers will be keen to show you how to take part in races, and provide help and mentoring so you can develop into a competitive sailor. There is always a safety boat with a trained crew on the water when we are racing.
The club organises a number of competitions during the season and prizes are awarded at the end of the year. Members of all ages and experience can take part using a variety of boats: we use PY (Portsmouth Yardstick) handicaps to ensure everyone has a fair chance of winning.
You will find out everything you need to join our races in the other pages of this section, but look at our Racing Programme and Racing Results to see what’s happening. Also, please “Like” our Facebook page to keep up to date with the latest news.
